Robert Ellis began working full time making furniture in 1997.  In the early years most of the work at the shop was focused on Shaker style cherry furniture. Over the years hundreds of these pieces were delivered to  dealers across the state of Kentucky.  Then in 2006 the direction of the business turned to making smaller items.  The idea of creating handmade cutting boards was born...Nowadays nearly all of the work done at the woodworking shop is designing and marketing these cutting boards.

and now a little about the boards:

All the wood that goes into these cutting boards derive from Kentucky Trees.  They are always handmade and finished.  In the design process care is taken to ensure the boards are well balanced, user friendly, and finally for some fun a little "artistic" freedom is used in placement of the wood itself to give each board just the right look.  Finally, the cutting boards by Robert Ellis Woodworking are juried and approved by both Kentucky Crafted & The Kentucky Guild of Artist & Craftsmen...

Five Board Benches are offered in 6 variations of color combinations.  Shown below is a solid cherry, finished
natural, and  a painted maple (black) with a solid cherry top.  Other examples are shown on products page.
 

A very simple design, but turns out to be a best seller at Art Festivals/shows.  Woods used is cherry & maple, accented with walnut and maple pinstriping.
